Norfolk Island Regional Council Animal Import Permit
In order to import an animal into Norfolk Island a permit must be granted by the Norfolk Island Regional Council alongside the permit and conditions set by the Department of Agriculture and Water Resources.
From the 1st of July 2016 the Biosecurity Act 2015 applied to Norfolk Island and this is regulated at a federal government level by the Department of Agriculture and Water Resources. This permit however is not the only permission that is required to import an animal into Norfolk Island.
The Norfolk Island Regional Council regulates the importation of Animals under the Animals (Importation) Act 1983 (NI). Council’s role is to assess the appropriateness of certain dog breeds and animal species that are imported to the island.
