A resolution was made at the October 2016 Ordinary Council Meeting that the Council Offices would close during the three normal working days between Christmas and New Year each year, which is a quiet time for most of Council business.
The arrangements allow Council to have, as far as possible, a period of shutdown with a holiday break for many of its employees. A skeleton staff cover the three working days of the Christmas and New Year period, which allows essential services to remain open.
Facilities remaining open include Telecom, Customer Care, Waste Management Centre, Liquor Bond, Norfolk Island Museum, Norfolk Island Research Centre and the Library. The opening hours for each service and the emergency contact phone numbers, are in the table attached and on Council’s website www.norfolkisland.gov.nf.
