Norfolk Island Regional Council under Administration
Mr. Mike Colreavy - Interim Administrator for Norfolk Island Regional Council (NIRC)
On Friday 5 February 2021, the Assistant Minister Nola Marino MP, suspended the Norfolk Island Regional Council for a period of three months and appointed Mike Colreavy as Interim Administrator for the term of this suspension.
A consummate professional, Mike brings extensive professional experience in:
- Board and Trustee experience, as a Chair and Company Secretary
- Eight (8) years as a management consultant to local councils.
- Thirty seven (37) years combined local government management and financial management experience,
- Twelve (12) years as a Council General Manager and twenty (20) years as a member of a council executive management team.
Mike is also the Administrator for Balranald Shire Council. This is an appointment upon dismissal of the elected council in January 2020 until September 2024 by proclamation of the NSW Governor countersigned by the NSW Minister for Local Government. Balranald Shire Council is located in the far south-western district of New South Wales, and has similarities to Norfolk Island, in being a remote region and comparable overall population of approximately 2300 people.
Mike will be focussing on developing a way forward for the Council based on the recommendations from the Governance and Financial External Audits, whilst remaining consistent with the 9-point Strategic Action Plan adopted by Council in February 2020.
